Male’: The third batch of the Maldives National Service technical training programme has travelled to B. Kihaadhoo to begin training at the MNDF School of Engineering and Logistics.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced the departure in a post on X, saying 84 young people had travelled to the island for the programme.
The batch includes 64 men and 20 women from 44 islands across 17 atolls of the Maldives.
The Maldives National Service is an initiative launched under President Muizzu to help develop a capable and responsible younger generation.
The programme aims to strengthen patriotism, national pride and love for Islam among young people. It also seeks to prepare them to serve the country during emergencies and major national challenges.
Participants will develop important life skills, learn to work together and build the discipline needed to contribute to their communities.
Students who complete the initial National Service training will receive a training certificate, along with certificates for three additional programmes.
These include Civil Education and Leadership, Community Volunteer Firefighter, Basic First Aid and an Education Training Programme.
President Muizzu has wished all participants success in their training.
