President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established a new government company named Maldives Awqaf Investments Limited under the powers granted to the President by the Companies Act.

Male’: President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established Maldives Awqaf Investments Limited under Article 15 of the Companies Act (Law No. 7/2023).
The company was established through Presidential Decree No. 14/2026.
The company has been established to develop and manage Awqaf properties in different parts of the Maldives in line with government policies.
It will also work on building, maintaining and managing mosques across the country.
The company will also be responsible for providing and developing the facilities and resources needed by mosques.
In addition, it will carry out activities related to businesses permitted under Islamic Shariah and work to manage such investments in a sustainable manner.
