The Economic Development and Trade Ministry has warned that legal action will be taken against businesses selling goods without clearly displaying prices, in violation of the Consumer Protection Act.
Male’: The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has warned businesses that they could face legal action for selling products without clearly visible prices.
The ministry said it has repeatedly received complaints about shops displaying goods for sale without making prices clear to customers.
Under the Consumer Protection Act, businesses must ensure that the price of every product is clearly visible, either on the item itself or at the place where it is displayed for sale.
The ministry said customers must be able to identify which price applies to each product, and reminded businesses to comply with the legal requirements.
Under Article 66 of the law, the ministry will inspect and monitor shops and other business premises to ensure they follow the rules.
The ministry warned that strict legal action would be taken against businesses found violating the requirements.
