Male' – President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the list of beneficiaries selected to receive land plots and flats under his administration's first housing scheme will be published before the end of this year.

Speaking during a press conference held at the President's Office today morning, Muizzu said the selection process is being carried out with great care to ensure that no individual or political influence affects the outcome.

He stressed that the government is committed to a transparent and merit-based allocation process, adding that housing assistance will not be granted based on personal connections or influence.

"The housing assistance provided by this government will not be given because someone knows a particular person,"

the President said, emphasizing that the process is designed to prevent the kinds of complaints raised over previous housing allocations.

Muizzu noted that, in the past, there had been allegations that land plots and flats were distributed through influence and favoritism. He said his administration is determined to ensure such concerns do not arise under the current housing programme.

According to the President, all applications are undergoing a thorough verification process. The information submitted by applicants is being checked to confirm its accuracy before determining whether each application meets the

scheme's eligibility criteria.

He explained that applicants who satisfy the established criteria and receive the required points under the programme will be allocated housing strictly according to their ranking.

"The details submitted by applicants are being carefully verified. If they meet the programme's criteria and qualify based on the points system, they will receive a flat or land plot according to the established order," he said.

While Muizzu said he could not provide a specific date for when flats would begin to be handed over, he noted that officials are working on the process continuously to complete it as soon as possible.
