GAZA, Palestine: At least five Palestinians, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed in Israeli air and ground attacks across the Gaza Strip on Monday, October 26, according to local medical sources and first responders.

At least four people were killed in an Israeli air attack on a displacement camp in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Another Palestinian was killed in a drone strike in the Remal neighbourhood west of Gaza City, according to Palestinian medical sources and the Wafa news agency.

The victims in the Khan Younis area included Hossam al-Zamli, 21, Tamer Abu Sneima, 24, and Jouri al-Soufi, a seven-year-old girl, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Education and hospital sources.

Displaced families among those affected

Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis treated several wounded people following the attack, including a child and a woman. The attacks left more than a dozen people wounded across Gaza, according to local medical sources.

In a separate incident on Sunday night, Israeli quadcopter drones reportedly set fire to a displacement camp near the Shujayea junction in eastern Gaza City. Gaza’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing said the fire destroyed tents and belongings, forcing more than 200 families — over 800 people — to leave the area.

The ministry called for urgent international assistance to provide shelter and essential supplies for those displaced by the fire.

Casualties continue despite ceasefire

Palestinian Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said 11 people had been killed and 50 wounded by Israeli fire and air strikes across Gaza during the preceding 24 hours.

According to figures cited by Al Jazeera from Gaza medical sources, at least 74,555 Palestinians had been killed and 175,727 injured since the war began in October 2023. The figures also recorded 1,559 deaths since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025.

The latest attacks come amid continuing reports of violence and civilian casualties in Gaza despite the ceasefire. Rescue teams also face difficulties reaching people trapped under rubble or in areas affected by ongoing attacks.
