MADRID, Spain: European authorities continue to monitor migration routes from Morocco to Spain as migrants attempt to cross into Europe through sea routes and the Spanish territories of Ceuta and Melilla.
Spanish authorities have increased border security measures and cooperation with Morocco to reduce irregular crossings and tackle human smuggling networks. The two countries have maintained close coordination in recent years to manage migration challenges along their shared borders.
The Atlantic route from Morocco toward Spain’s Canary Islands also remains one of the most active migration paths, with thousands of migrants attempting the dangerous sea journey in search of better living conditions in Europe.
Moroccan authorities have carried out operations to prevent illegal crossings, while Spanish rescue services continue responding to migrant boats found in the Mediterranean and Atlantic waters.
The European Union has also strengthened cooperation with Morocco, providing support for border management and efforts to address the causes behind irregular migration.
