MALE’: President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said there is sufficient space in Rasmale’ to allocate land to all eligible applicants who applied for housing plots under the project.
Speaking on PSM’s Nation Chat programme, the President said plans to develop a waterfront and marina in Rasmale’ would not affect opportunities for residents to obtain land.
He said eligible applicants from Male’ residents, registered individuals and people who have lived in Male’ for at least 15 years would be accommodated under the land allocation process.
The President rejected claims by opposition figures that the Rasmale’ development would prevent residents from obtaining housing plots. He accused the opposition of spreading misinformation and attempting to halt the project.
He also said the development would help the government fulfil its housing commitments while contributing to improvements in the country’s economy and credit rating.
President Muizzu said Rasmale’ is expected to develop into a fully established city over the next 10 years as the project progresses.
The government has planned waterfront and marina facilities as part of the development, alongside land allocation for eligible applicants.
