TAIZ, Yemen: At least seven people, including two children, have reportedly been killed in an airstrike targeting a residential area in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz province, according to Houthi authorities.
The authorities also reported that six people were injured in the attack, which reportedly struck a family home in the western part of the province.
Houthi officials blamed Saudi Arabia for the airstrike. However, the claim of responsibility has not been independently verified, and no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities was reported.
The reported attack comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen, where clashes between Houthi forces and troops aligned with the internationally recognised government have intensified.
Taiz has been among the areas affected by the latest escalation, with civilians facing growing security risks and disruptions to essential services.
The latest violence has also added to the humanitarian challenges in the country. The International Committee of the Red Cross recently delivered medical supplies to Taiz after renewed fighting disrupted humanitarian access and left healthcare facilities facing shortages.
The situation in Yemen remains volatile, with continued fighting raising concerns over civilian safety and access to humanitarian assistance.
