The visit is intended to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen maritime relations between the two neighbouring countries. The MNDF has also welcomed the arrival of the Indian vessels.
Such engagements provide opportunities for personnel from both forces to exchange expertise and improve coordination in maritime operations.
India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka also conduct the annual trilateral military exercise Dosti, which focuses on strengthening cooperation and maritime security.
The latest joint military exercises between Indian and Maldivian forces were held in January this year, reflecting the continued defence engagement between the two countries.
