Male’: The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged the public to take precautions as seasonal illnesses and vomiting continue to spread across the Maldives.

The agency said vomiting and other seasonal illnesses are increasing and called on people to wash their hands regularly to reduce the risk of infection.

HPA also advised people to seek medical attention promptly if they experience repeated vomiting, severe weakness or other unusual symptoms.

HPA issues health advice

People who feel unwell or experience symptoms were advised to stay home and rest instead of going outside.

Those who go outside were advised to drink plenty of fluids, including ORS, water and soup, to prevent dehydration.

HPA also urged people to wash their hands with soap after using the toilet and before preparing food. People were also advised to sanitize after using the toilet.

Children should not be sent to school until they have been free of symptoms for at least one day. Sick adults were also advised to stay home from work and rest.
