A yellow alert has been issued for parts of the Maldives as heavy rain causes flooding in Male' and strong winds and rough seas are expected across the country.

Male’: The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow alert for the area from Kaafu Atoll to Addu Atoll as heavy rain and strong winds are expected today.
The yellow alert is in effect from 7:30am to 11:30am today, with strong winds expected across the affected areas.
The Met Office said heavy rain, thunder and winds of up to 45 miles per hour are expected during the alert period.
The weather office has also forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms across many parts of the Maldives until 6pm today.
Winds of 13 to 23 miles per hour are expected from the west and northwest of the country.
The Met Office said winds could reach around 40 miles per hour during thunderstorms.
The sea is also expected to become rough, with waves reaching between three and seven feet.
Heavy rain has caused flooding in several areas of Male’, with water entering some homes.
The Maldives National Defence Force said its teams are carrying out response work in affected areas.
The MNDF also said it is working to pump out water from flooded areas.
The Met Office has urged people across the country to remain alert to changing weather conditions.
Authorities have also reminded people to take safety measures during periods of bad weather.
