MIRA has presented Ran Laari awards to 19 taxpayers who made the highest tax contributions for 2023. The winners included Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, major resorts, businesses, banks and state-owned companies.

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has honoured 19 taxpayers with its Ran Laari Award for making the highest tax contributions to the state.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held to mark MIRA’s 14th anniversary. The recipients were selected based on their tax payments for the 2023 tax year and were recognised across 12 categories.
Among the recipients was D. Meedhoo MP and MDA President Ahmed Siyam Mohamed (Sun Siyam) , who received the award in the Individual Income Tax category.
Several major businesses also received awards for their contributions through GST, Green Tax and income tax. These included Velaa Private Island Maldives, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, Hulhule Island Hotel, Trans Maldivian Airways and China Harbour Engineering Company Maldives.
In the banking sector, Bank of Maldives received the award for the highest income tax contribution, while Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun (Dhiraagu) was recognised among state-owned companies. Ooredoo Maldives received the award for non-individual entities with income above MVR 200 million.
Etihad Airways was also recognised in the Airport Taxes and Fees category.
MIRA said the winners were selected according to published criteria and procedures. The authority did not disclose the amount of tax paid by the award recipients.
The awards were presented by Finance and Public Enterprises Minister Hassan Zareer, who attended the ceremony as the guest of honour.
