Malé, Maldives – July 27, 2025: In a landmark moment for Maldivian aviation, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated the new terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA), marking a major upgrade to the country’s primary international gateway.
The inauguration ceremony was held as part of the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day celebrations and was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and aviation stakeholders. The new terminal is expected to greatly enhance passenger capacity, streamline international arrivals and departures, and support the country’s growing tourism sector.
