Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stressed the importance of strong, independent parliaments in his inaugural address at the CPA Small Branches Workshop in Malé.
He said clear purpose, institutional independence and public confidence are essential for effective parliamentary function and democratic governance.
The Vice President noted that hosting the workshop reflects the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and enhancing cooperation with Commonwealth partners.
The event brings together delegates from small jurisdictions for discussions on capacity building, accountability and parliamentary development.
