Maldives set for Asian Games action in Seven Sports

Male’: The Maldives has named table tennis player Moosa Munsif Ahmed and shooter Mariyam Eshal Misbah as its flag bearers for the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

The announcement was made at a ceremony held at Meeruma last evening. Sports Minister Abdullah Rafiu officially handed over the national flag to the athletes.

Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives Ishigami Rumikоe, senior officials from the Japanese Embassy and Sports Ministry, Maldives Olympic Committee President Mohamed Abdul Sattar, Sports association officials and athletes attended the event.

Maldives to compete in seven sports

Moosa will carry the flag alongside Mariyam Eshal, who won an international silver medal in shooting for the Maldives. The two athletes were selected to represent the national contingent at the opening ceremony.

The Maldives will compete in seven sports at this year’s Asian Games. The sports are athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, table tennis, swimming, shooting and surfing.

The Asian Games will be held in Nagoya, Japan, from September 14 to October 4.
