The Maldives today officially commenced its 61st Independence Day celebrations with a national flag-hoisting ceremony held at Republic Square.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed joined the ceremony alongside senior government officials, members of the security forces, and invited guests.
The ceremony featured a special prayer and the performance of the national anthem by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Band, marking the start of the nation’s official Independence Day commemorations.
